All you need is a mat and some comfortable clothing, e.g. tracksuit bottoms/shorts/leggings and a t-shirt.
You may want to bring a bottle of water, a blanket or some extra clothing for the relaxation stage. A belt and block may be useful for some poses. For the pregnancy classes a cushion is also useful.
Lynn normally brings a few spare mats and belts so don’t worry too much if you forget to bring your own.
Before coming to a class, try to allow at least two hours after a full meal or an hour after a light meal/snack. This will make the exercises easier and more comfortable.
Classes start with a short relaxation, followed by pranayama (breathing exercises).
These are followed by either other flowing sequences, or work on a particular aspect of the practice, e.g. backbends, balance, twists, focus on breathing etc.
The class ends with at least 10 minutes of relaxation, a really important restorative and calming time for the body to absorb all the benefits of the session.
Please remember that the classes are 100% NON COMPETITIVE. Students needn’t be concerned with what other participants can or cannot do as everybody is different. A posture that is easy one day may not be as easy the next. You will not need to do anything that feels wrong for you nor hold a pose longer than feels comfortable. Students should listen to their own body first and the teacher’s voice second!
